I am sooooo ashamed of how long it has taken me to get back into blogging! There really isn't an specific reason that I have been away for so long. I think a lot of it has to do with Facebook. I have been sucked into the facebook machine, and I spend so much time there that I don't feel I have any left to devote to my blog! No more! I am back.
So, a few weeks ago I was very sick for 4 days. As I had nothing to do but lie in bed, I finally got around to reading Twilight. Erin gave me a copy last year, or maybe the year before, but I never got into it. It was so hugely popular that I felt compelled to not read it in defiance. Damn the Man! Well you know that as soon as I started it, I was hooked. I read all 4 books in 3 days. Obsession is an understatement. Now I am begging Hill to read them, but she is resisting just as I did before I saw the light. She said that she doesn't want to read them because it will just make her mad at Frank! I thought that was so funny, yet so true. All of your lovely husbands aside, and Frank is the cream of the crop as husbands go, there just don't seem to be many good men left in the world these days. I find myself lamenting that there is no such thing as an Edward Cullen. Not in the vampire sense of course. I just don't know if I believe in true love or soul mates, and I have very little faith in the integrity of men. Just my personal opinion, not based in fact.
We are on Spring break right now, and I am really enjoying the time off. No big plans, just some spring cleaning and getting my hair done. Since I came home in 2005 I have been wanting to tour a grass roots soap company called SunFeather Soaps that is located in Potsdam, NY. It is about a 2 hour drive, and on Thursday Kacey and I will finally be going! I'm sure most of you are thinking "Wow. A soap factory. How thrilling." To me it is very exciting! I make my own all-natural soaps as a hobby, so I am really looking forward to seeing it done on a larger scale. Big soap corporations (think Dial, Dove, Irish Spring, etc.) remove a lot of the natural glycerin that occurs during the soap making process to make a much harder bar soap. Glycerin is a humectant, meaning that it attracts moisture. When it is removed it does create a harder bar, but it also removes a lot of the moisturizing properties, therefore leaving your skin dry and necesitating the use of lotions. The drawback to natural soap is that it is softer because of the glycerin, so water from the shower causes it to disintegrate faster. Homemade soap is very mild, and can even be used on newborns.
Enough about soap. I'm pretty sure no one finds it as fascinating as I do!
More to come....

Aramie, I am so glad you are back. I have been looking at your blog waiting for you to post for the last couple weeks. I am glad you are feeling better and I am so happy that you read Twilight. Britney and I both tried to get Hillary to read Twilight and she has said that she is not interested, but I started having hope when she went and saw the movie. Which I thought was a dissapointment, but she liked it. Maybe if we try to get her on all sides and at different times, she will break down and read them too. I am glad you are on facebook. I am going to look you up as soon as I finish writing this.
I like hearing all your info about soaps.
Glad you are back!
Hillary DON"T do it!! Hang tough, girl. I haven't caved in yet either. We can help each other stay strong.
Oh, good to hear from you. I so can't get into facebook.
I read Twilight ... then I encouraged my wife to read it and she liked it. We then read the other three as they came out. We both agree that Twilight is the best of the series. All of that teen angst in books 2& 3 just drove me crazy. I like vampire novels, except Dracula, I got a creepy evil feeling and I had to quit reading it. I read Stephenie Meyer's book The Host and really liked it ... you might want to try that one out.
We've missed you!!!! I'm very excited to hear about your soap making adventures.
i thought your soap rant was very informative. i didn't know what a humectant was until just now. as far as twilight goes, NEVER! that's right Gigi, you and i will stand strong to the end! i did enjoy the movie, though. and the comment about Frankie sounds worse than i meant it. Aramie is right---Frankie is the cream of the crop.
