I pounded the pound cake

It was pretty darn delicious. Unfortunately I will now have to dig the fat jeans out of their dark hiding place under my bed. I had hoped to squeeze myself into a bathing suit at some point this summer. I guess my dreams of looking like a Victoria's Secret model by June are just that....dreams. Is this the price I'm willing to pay for the sweet taste of pound cake, not to mention numberless other pastries? Maybe. This is the question I've been asking myself for a long time, and I still haven't drawn a definite conclusion.
Over the past several years I've put on a few pounds, and I find that my desire to shop for clothes is not as strong as it used to be. Now I am far more interestedin buying house wares, kitchen gadgets, body products, and shoes. Does anyone else feel like this? I read a quote by John Belushi the other day, and he said that women buy shoes because no matter what they look like, they can always feel like Angelina Jolie from the ankles down. I don't know about Angelina Jolie, but when I buy a cute pair of sassy strappy sandals I do feel a little J. Lo comin' on.
I'm not watching American Idol this season. Last season was the only time I have actually watched it from the start. I decided that I don't want to be that glued to a t.v. show again. That's not really true- I have my other shows. Mom says I need more joy in my life. By that she means that I need to incorporate more sitcoms into my t.v. watching schedule. Try not to judge me based on my viewing preferences. I realize that there is something unusual about a 29-year old woman who never watches anything but the History channel, Discovery channel, National Geographic channel, and occasionally the SciFi channel and SpikeTV. I am very interested in archaeology, anthropology, and natural science. I mark "Shark Week" on my calendar every year. I love Cities of the Underworld, The Deadliest Catch, and Ghost Hunters. My truly guilty pleasure is The Ultimate Fighter. I never would have watched a fighting show in the past, but when Joey and I got married he always wanted to watch it. I would watch it with him, and I guess after a while you get desensitized to the violence. Now I watch it because it has so many good-looking guys. It's true. I'm creepy. If it makes you feel any better about being my friend, I do have all 7 seasons of The Golden Girls on dvd. After Kacey falls asleep at night I watch it and have a good laugh.
Well, now that you know me a little better, I hope you won't hold it against me.
If anyone wants the "old-fashioned pound cake with raspberry sauce" recipe, let me know.

I do feel the same way with shopping. It's not that fun to shop for clothes anymore, but i did just recently spend quite a bit on clothes. Money that I didn't have, of course! But usually i buy buy buy for my kids!
I absolutely LOVE the golden girls! I want the box sets to them and the cosby show.
And last but not least, I would love to have your recipe for pound cake and topping. YUM!

Hey, girl! How are you? I haven't seen you in FOREVER!! What's going on?
I'm SO with you on the clothes thing. I refuse to buy new clothes because I will have to buy a bigger size than I want to admit I wear. So, I keep squeezing my fat butt into clothes that make me look even fatter (stuffed sausage comes to mind). Probably I'd look and feel better if I got new clothes.
E-mail me at aaron _ wendi at charter dot net (no spaces) and I'll send you an invite to my blog! I can't wait to catch up with you!!
