Shame on me...

Well, after looking a little closer I started to wonder about the picture I posted below of Hercules, the supposed English Mastiff now in the record books as the world's biggest dog. It occurred to me that Hercules' front legs/paws look an awful lot like human legs/feet. I checked it out on Snopes.com. First- that is not Hercules. The real Hercules looks a lot like Zorba, though not as large. Second- the dog identified in the photo as Hercules is a Neopolitan Mastiff, not an English Mastiff. While Neopolitan Mastiffs are very big dogs, they are not as large English Mastiffs. Their ears are generally docked, and the dog in the picture does appear to have docked ears. So, I must apologize for posting the info below as fact before double checking my sources. The photos and info on Zorba is all accurate!
