Sunday, Sunday

I must say that my spiritual bucket is feeling awfully light these days. I haven't been to church in 3 weeks because Kacey has been sick every week! I mentioned in my post yesterday that she has pink eye. It is pretty gross. Many of my mommy friends don't have children in school yet, so brace yourselves! It seems to be the most contagious illness out there. If one child in Kacey's class has it, they will ALL have it by the end of the week.
This is neither here not there, but I have always wondered if there is really a difference between yams and sweet potatoes. I love love love my sweet potato casserole recipe from Granny McVeigh! I read last night that yams are actually from Africa and Asia, while sweet potatoes are indiginous to the Americas (Peru, Ecuador). Yams are dry and mealy and sweet potatoes are moist and most of their carbohydrates are converted to sugar when they are cooked. I don't think I've ever actually seen or eaten a true yam. Everything you didn't care to know about yams and sweet potatoes 101 taught by Professor Aramie! There are still empty seats, but they are filling up quick! Hurry and register today!
Here is my quick post about my spending issues for the day- I have been drinking Rock Star energy drinks almost every day for a year. They cost about $1.80 each, and I got into the habit of drinking them because I could drink it as I drove to school and didn't have to spend time on breakfast in the a.m. Well, you can do the math- $1.80 every day on a stupid drink is too much money when you don't have any, so I am making a commitment to stop drinking them. They are super bad for me anyway. I'm sure that my efforts to shed pounds will be rewarded when I cut out that sugar and caffeine. At least a little bit?
Kacey sleeps in my bed every night. We share a room, and she grew out of her toddler bed. She never slept in it anyway, so I just put it in the garage. I know she needs her own bed, but we have no room! Everything I own is in this bedroom, and I'm already trying to think of pretty ways to hide the Rubbermaid buckets that are lining the walls and holding my bed up about 5 feet off the ground.
Kacey's birthday is May 20th, and I am going to have a party for her with all of her school friends. I think I am going to have it at the park. She wants to have a cowgirl-themed party, and I need to come up with some cute ideas for party favors, etc. Does anyone have any cute, yet incredibly cheap ideas? Erin? Elizabeth? Leah? Marti? Calling all creative minds!! It's hard to keep up with the Jones'! Her friends have all had fun parties and I don't want to disappoint her. She deserves a fun party and good memories.
After reading my friend Erin's blog (I was engrossed for 2 hours), I thought it would be fun to ask anyone reading my blog to leave me a comment sharing some of your favorite body products, cosmetics, beauty secrets, etc. Fun good times! One of my favorite beauty products is clear mascara. I use it on my eyebrows to keep them looking tame and glossy. I have very dark eyebrows, but I am sure it will work just as well for those of you with fairer complexions. So, dish your beauty secrets please! Remember- I will soon be in the position to date again, and I want to look GOOD! I'm really scared to put myself out there again. I never thought I would be getting divorced, but once you get past the heartbreak it is a little exciting I suppose. Lucky me! I got married once, and now I get to learn from my mistakes and try it all over again. This time I will be looking for someone within a certain income bracket. I won't say which, but let's just say that next time I want to be able to order something that is not on the value menu!

Hey, I LOVE the pretty pink and poke a dot wall paper. I haven't figured out how to change mine yet. Boy you sure had a lot on your mind today. Good to hear from you. I'm tired. Love you.

Okay party favors...dollar store, but check out my post about them under Projects/Ideas on the blog. I just made the bag toppers on my computer. Also make your own cake, better yet cupcakes...so much cheaper than buying.

I will think of something about that party and beauty sometime, but nothing is coming to me at this moment. I'll get back with you in a bit.
