I made my bread and substituted 1/2 of the white flour for wheat. It tasted like chewy Wheat Thins. I do like Wheat Thins, but I want home-made bread to taste like deliciousness. That's what it's supposed to taste like. Those of you who are familiar with baking whole wheat bread, is there some sort of white flour to wheat flour ratio that is supposed to be used? I had a roommate at Rick's who was one of like 13 kids. Her mom baked all of their bread, and it was SO GOOD!!!!! It looked like wheat bread, but tasted like heaven. She gave me the recipe, and I know it had white flour in it but I lost the recipe long ago.
Kacey and I are watching a Discovery Channel special about King Tut. Kacey loves to watch anything about Egypt.
I am starting a compost pile. It was just a cardboard flat out on the backporch, but now it is a tiny metal pail (thanks, daddy). When the ground thawes out we will be putting it into a garbage can with the bottom cut out. I am growing concerned about the earth (as we all are) and the condition it is in right now. I'm trying to decrease my carbon footprint. We have an organic garden, I'm starting my compost pile, and I am going to start taking cloth bags with me when I go shopping so that I don't have tons of plastic bags stuffed into every nook and cranny. When Kacey was wearing diapers I needed those bags! Now that I am not changing poopy diapers anymore I don't need them as much. I am also not going to buy bottled water anymore. I have lots of drinking containers that I can fill up from the tap. I've never really been bothered by the taste of tap water, unless I'm in Magna, UT visiting my grandparents. That is the most disgusting water I have ever tasted! It makes me dry heave. I know it's not much, but you have to start somewhere. I want Kacey and all of her posterity to enjoy this beautiful planet! Summers up here are really beautiful. Very picturesque. We live in a rural area that is surrounded by apple orchards and dairy farms. I love summer and fall, and I like the snow until January. Then I want it to go away! Unfortunately it's only getting started in January. It has snowed up here in early June!
One of my goals for this summer is to teach Kacey how to read. She will be 5 on May 20th, and I think she is ready to learn how. Has anyone out there taught a child to read before? I am going to buy some flashcard-type teaching tools, but maybe someone out there has a good suggestion or two.
Happy Sunday evening to all!

Sorry about the bread. You've got some lofty goals there girl. Keep it up and you can change the world one of us at a time.
One of my goals is to be a better bread maker. There is a lady in our ward who is awesome and has taught several classes for enrichment activities. When we did whole wheat the recipe was super simple but we did use one cup of bread flour...whole wheat flour doesn't have gluton and this is essential for bread making. It was very yummy and my turned out great. Jim even liked it. I could share the recipe.
Oh and one more thing please don't tell me you are jumping the GREEN bandwagon...I am so sick of it. (Let it also be known that this doesn't mean don't take care of the earth...I recycle etc... But it has become a religion of sorts and a way for people to make money....hate it, hate it, hate it.)
Ok...I have several things to tell you. First of all, if you go to my blog and then go to Kristen's blog (not Kirsten) she has two or three different recipes that she just put up for wheat bread, so check that out!!
Second, I think the only thing I do for the environment is recycle my newspapers and I take my plastic bags back to walmart and put them in the recycle box. Not much, I know, but it is more than I used to do, so I am proud of myself.
Third, how to put a link on your posts......go to whatever page you want to make the link. Copy the address. Then, when you are typing you will highlight whatever words you want to make the "link". Then at the top of that box there is a button that looks like a paper clip. Click that button and a little box will pop up, paste your address in that box and hit okay or whatever it is to accept it. Then you will want to go to the color box and change the color of the words in your post. That's it!! Just make sure that after you change the color of the word that you change the color back to black for the rest of your post!
Hope that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't!!
I thought the bread was good. Especially after it cooled off. I toasted it and it was yummy.
